Lawyer N. Pathmanabhan and his three farm hands who are charged with the Banting murders were ordered by the Shah Alam High Court to enter their defence for murdering cosmetics queen Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya and three others.
Judge Datuk Akhtar Tahir made his decision yesterday after 108 witnesses testified in the trial which lasted 71 days.
He said based on evidence, he found a more compelling motive of the murder was that Sosilawati was killed because Pathmanabhan could not honour a cheque of RM4million promised to her.
Her company was murdered to 'shut their mouth'.
Akhtar took just over an hour to read out his judgment.
Pathmanabhan, 44, and his farm-hands T. Thilaiyalagan, 21; R. Matan, 22; and R. Kathavarayan, 33, are charged with the murders of Datuk Sosilawati and three others at a farm in tanjung sepat on Aug 30, 2010.
